LARKANA, Feb 25: Two people were killed when rival groups traded fire near Naudero on Saturday. Those killed were identified as Hajan alias Fateh Mohammed Gopang and Rasheed Chandio.

A gang of alleged thieves confronted another group of thieves on the outskirts of Saeedodero village in the Naudero police area.

Moharram Gopang, a relative of deceased Hajan Gopang alleged that a group of thieves while passing near their village were challenged to which they opened fire and killed Hajan Gopang.

Disputing the claim, Chuttal Gopang of the another group said that the cause of killing Abdul Rasheed was an old enmity.

He said the old dispute was resolved wherein they had paid Rs200,000 as compensation and on Saturday their rivals had killed Abdul Rasheed.

Police began probe after registering FIRs.

KALABAGH DAM: Activists of the Sindh People’s Students Federation took out a procession on Saturday in protest against anti-Sindh projects including construction of Kalabagh dam.

Abdul Ghani Jatoi, president of the SPSF Larkana district led the protesters.

The protestors with banner placards were raising slogans against anti-Sindh projects and staged a sit-in outside Jinnahbagh.

SPSF leaders lashed out at rulers’ policy of ignoring the voice of protest from Sindh.

They said the government was out to punish supporters of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Zardari and with the construction of big water reservoirs government was attempting to devastate Sindh’s economy.

They also criticized confiscating the property of Asif Zardari.

DETECTION BILLS: Electricity consumers have demanded that Hesco officials should stop sending detection and inflated bills.

They were speaking at an open kutchhari held by the superintendent engineer of the Hesco Larkana circle at the circuit house on Saturday.

Consumers and complainants from Larkana, Qambar, Dokri, Shahdadkot, Warah and Badah towns said that they received bills despite having no connection at their houses.

Hesco superintendent engineer Imdad Abro assured the consumers that they would not get detection bills in future.

The consumers pointed towards incorrect meter readings and over-average power consumption bills. A majority of complaints belonged to the Empire sub-division.

The official issued show-cause notice to the line superintendent for misconduct with consumers.

Mr Abro assured the consumers that Hesco employees would be punished under relevant laws for their misconduct.
