SWABI, Feb 25: Demonstrations against blasphemous cartoons published in some European newspapers have crippled activities of non-governmental organizations across the province.
Sources said that some of the NGOs had already stopped their activities and the staff had left for their countries.
Further delay in the settlement of the issue will affect NGOs’ work, the sources said, adding that most of the funds for welfare work had been provided by the European countries.
The sources said that the main donors staying in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar had already left for home to save themselves from violent protests.
The welfare bodies criticised the European countries for their stance of unbridled freedom of expression.
The sources said that if the issue were not resolved most of the welfare projects would remain incomplete.
