LOWER DIR: Relatives of a youth, who allegedly died during police custody, placed the body on a road in front of the sessions court in Samarbagh the other day to protest the ‘killing’.

They demanded registration of FIR against the Samarbagh SHO and other police officials.

Speaking on the occasion, the protesters’ leaders, including Kifayat Khan, Saleem Momand, Mujibur Rehman and others, alleged the Samarbagh police arrested the youth, Raheel in a drug abuse case, and his relatives were informed about his death on Sunday.

The relatives chanted slogans against the police. They claimed the youth died due to severe torture during custody. They demanded an inquiry into the death.

Meanwhile, DSP Jandol Bakht Jamal Khan reached the venue and held talks with the protesters. He assured them that the case would be properly investigated and action would be taken against the officials if they were found guilty.
