PESHAWAR, Feb 25: The Standing Committee of the NWFP Assembly on Procedure and Conduct of Business Rules, Privileges and Implementation of Government Assurances on Saturday recommended that the MPAs should be taken into confidence by all the district heads of the nation-building departments while selecting sites of development schemes in their constituencies.

A meeting of the committee presided over by NWFP Assembly Deputy Speaker Ikramullah Shahid took notice of a privilege motion moved by MPA Jamshed Khan stating that he had not been consulted in the establishment of educational institutions in his constituency.

The chairman warned officers that no such action would be tolerated in future, said a handout.

On a privilege motion moved by MPA Muzaffar Said, the committee expressed concern over collection of toll tax on the Kohat tunnel.

It was observed that the MPAs were exempted from all types of toll taxes but the National Highway Authority had violated the rules.

The committee recommended that senior officers of the NHA should be called in the next meeting to explain their position.
