PESHAWAR, Feb 25: The NWFP government has approved the recruitment of 24 sons of police martyrs in the force. Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani will hand over appointment letters to the sons of martyrs in a ceremony at the chief minister’s secretariat in a few days.

A committee of senior police officials had recommended the names for recruitment.

The provincial government has reserved a five per cent quota in recruitment of constables and assistant sub-inspectors in police for sons of the department’s martyrs.

Last year, 11 sons of martyrs were recruited as ASI against the quota.

The provincial govt has also sanctioned various other incentives to the martyrs’ families under the Shaheed package, including allotment of plots of one kanal in Regi Lalma Township.—Online
