BAJAUR: Two children suffered wounds in a bomb blast in the hilly locality of Lowi Mamond tehsil here on Thursday.

Local residents and police officials told Dawn that the incident occurred in the Gat Agra area of Lowi Mamond tehsil at about 4pm, a day after the Wednesday’s attack on the JUI-F poll nominee Qari Khairullah near Kamar area.

They said the explosive device said to be placed by unknown miscreants exploded when a group of local children were grazing goats there.

The residents said that two children were wounded in the incident while another one remained safe.

A police official stationed at the Lowi Mamond police station told Dawn that the wounded children identified as Ikram Khan, 11, and Fitrani Bibi, 10, were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital.

The official while quoting the health facility doctors said that the condition of both the children was stated to be out of danger.

The police official said they had launched an investigation and a police team also visited the site and collected evidence.

According to the area people, the explosion had created fear and concern among the residents. Published in Dawn, January 5th, 2024
