Israel’s actions over the past few days show it has undergone a political as well as a military shift in its bombardment of Gaza, according to Mohammed Cherkaoui, a professor at George Mason University, Al Jazeera reports.

It came when Netanyahu said the fighting could go on for “many more months” and the Israeli army announced the withdrawal of some troops from the front lines in Gaza, he said.

“There is definitely a struggle to achieve certain objectives in Gaza, and there is latent fatigue among brigades. The military leadership is reshuffling its troops with the hope of focusing on narrower targets.”
