Asma flays govt for Qazi’s arrest

LAHORE, Feb 2: A former chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), Ms Asma Jehangir, has criticized the government for arresting Jamaat-i-Islami Amir Qazi Husain Ahmed.

In a news release on Saturday, she said though she did not agree with the politics of the Qazi, she could not approve of the government’s attitude towards politicians.

“The Qazi is leader of a political party and he must not be treated as or associated with terrorists. Such an attitude reflected the goverment policy to malign the politicians,” she added. — Staff Reporter
