Israel’s war cabinet has been given approval from the wider security cabinet to move from Stage B of the conflict, which we are seeing right now, to Stage C, Al Jazeera’s Alan Fisher reports from occupied East Jerusalem.
“Stage C is meant to be much more targeted, a move away, critics would say, from mass killing into much more surgical strikes in southern Gaza.
“They have to do that simply because so many people have moved into southern Gaza. The sort of war the Israeli military is carrying out now is almost impossible to imagine there and would certainly bring a great deal of international criticism,” Fisher says.
“It’s up to the war cabinet to decide when to move from Stage B to C, but they say it could be in a number of weeks. It could be well into January until this war changes its face.”
