MARDAN: Mardan Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai has directed the relevant officials to ensure continuous and smooth supply of electricity to consumers by resolving technical problems.

Chairing a meeting here on Tuesday, he said that necessary steps should be taken to inform people about the situation of power loadshedding on daily basis.

The meeting was held to review public complaints about power outages.

Peshawar Electric Supply Company chief Qazi Tahir, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Fayaz Sherpao and other relevant officials attended the meeting.

The commissioner informed the Pesco chief and other officials about power loadshedding in Mardan division and unrest among people. He said that administrative officers and police conducted a campaign against power theft as a result of which Mardan was given the status of loadshedding-free city.

However, he said that duration of power outages was increased in other areas that caused unrest among people.

The Pesco chief said that severe cold and fog caused tripping in grid stations. “It is a technical problem that causes frequent power outages,” he said.

He added that the problem would be solved with change of weather.
