VEHARI, Feb 22: Abrupt increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has become a cause of concern for its consumers.
The district government recently fixed the price of an 11.4 kg cylinder at Rs450. However, during the last week, dealers and stockists increased the price by Rs130 to Rs150 for a cylinder.
It is learnt that Caltax and Southern gas are being sold at Rs590 per cylinder, Irad Gas at Rs580, Faungas Rs575, Pak and Ravi gas Rs590.
A gas dealer told this correspondent on Wednesday that they have to increase the price due to imposition of some taxes.
Another dealer said the sale of cylinders has been drastically reduced after the increase in prices.
Meanwhile, a number of consumers criticised the government for failing to control prices of commodities, including LPG.
