BAHAWALNAGAR: Mandi Sadiq Ganj police booked a man on charge of killing his wife after she refused to give him money to buy drugs.

According to the FIR, Zareena (46) married Azam about 30 years ago and the couple had nine children, including four sons and five daughters.

Azam was a drug addict and would often torture his wife on the issue of money. On Dec 15, Azam exchanged harsh words with Zareena refused over the same issue; however, he kept silent when family members intervened.

The next day, he hit Zareena with a shovel in her head and neck when she refused again to give him money for drugs. The suspect fled the scene, leaving Zareena critically injured. Later, she succumbed to her injuries.
