Too many aspirants for too few posts

MULTAN, Feb 21: Thousands of candidates have applied for appointment against 379 educators’ posts in the district. According to education department sources, some 40,000 applications have been received for the posts. The candidates were allowed to apply for more than one position at different schools in the district, they added.

Of the total vacant posts, 23 are meant for secondary educators, 114 for senior elementary school educators and 242 seats for elementary school educators.

Minimum qualification required for the job is BA, BSc or BEd. Interviews of the male and female candidates, which started on Monday, will continue in the office of EDO (Education) Prof Nazir Ahmed. The selection committee comprises the DCO, EDO (Education) and a representative of the education ministry.—APP
