The United Kingdom Marine Trade Operations (UKMTO) has received reports of an “incident” in the vicinity of the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait separating East Africa from the Arabian Peninsula, it said in a post on X.

The strait connects the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea, where Houthis have carried out a series of attacks on vessels and launched drones and missiles targeting Israel. They have threatened to target any vessel they believe is either going to or coming from Israel.

UKMTO advised vessels to “transit with caution and report any suspicious activity”.
