Elmedin Konakovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs for Bosnia and Herzegovina, drew parallels between what’s currently happening in Gaza and what took place in Bosnia during the 1992-95 war — where an estimated 100,000 people were killed, Al Jazeera Alma Milisic reports from the Doha Forum.

Konakovic said that Bosnia’s community, particularly Bosniaks who were prosecuted and killed during Bosnia’s war, have enormous sympathies for the suffering of the people of Gaza.

“It’s really hard to see these pictures,” he told Al Jazeera. “I condemned the Hamas attack on October 7 but that can’t in any way be a reason for Israel to kill civilians, destroy mosques, churches and hospitals.”
