Published February 20, 2006

ISLAMABAD, Feb 19: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Sunday appointed an election coordination committee to ‘ensure’ holding of free, fair and transparent elections within the party at all its tiers by Aug 14.

According to a party announcement, Senator Kamil Ali Agha will be the chief election coordinator (CEC) and the following will be committee members: Mushtaq Ghani (NWFP) , Senator Saeed Hashmi (Balochistan), Ghaffar Qureshi (Sindh), Iqbal Dar (Punjab/ Northern Areas) and Mrs Yaqoot Jamil-ur-Rahman (Islamabad).

The team will visit provinces and coordinate with provincial party organizations for the holding of elections.

They will also review and update the membership lists of the party, which will form the electoral college for the elections.

They have been asked to complete their work within 30 days so that the PML election schedule can be made available for announcement by March 23.
