BAJAUR: A former PTI lawmaker has accused Bajaur police of raiding his house on Wednesday night and taking away his nine-year-old son, a child with special needs.

The police confirmed the raid on Gul Zafar Khan’s residence but denied that his son was arrested.

The former PTI MNA tweeted that police raided his home in Gat Kai area of Mamond tehsil in his absence and took away his son. Mr Khan’s claim about the alleged arrest of his special needs son went viral on social media as several leaders and workers of PTI also posted it on their social media accounts.

However, in a statement issued from the office of the district police officer (DPO) on Wednesday night, police confirmed that the raid was conducted on Mr Khan’s house owing to his violation of Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, but said that no one was arrested in the raid as the former MNA was not present in his house.

A day earlier, Mr Khan had attended a party meeting at the residence of former provincial minister Anwerzeb Khan in connection with the PTI’s convention, to be held a few days later.

Local police have also registered an FIR against the PTI meeting and several leaders of the party have been charged in it.

A police official said that Mr Khan was also wanted by police in a case registered in Upper Dir district a few days ago.

Meanwhile, police on Wednesday also arrested PTI’s former MNA Gul Dad Khan for violating Section 144 CrPC, police and party sources said.
