KARACHI: A local court on Wednesday remanded five suspects in judicial custody in a case pertaining to a robbery during a raid on the house of a trader in Orangi Town.

The investigating officer (IO) produced Mahfooz Hassan, Abdul Sattar, and Azhar Ahmed before the court of a judicial magistrate (west) after the end of their first physical remand along with two newly-arrested suspects, Syed Sohail Rizvi and Kamran Shahrukh.

The IO sought custody of the suspects for questioning and identification parade of three of them through the complainant.

He also sought permission to obtain the PIN code of DSP Umair Tariq Bajari’s cell phone, who had already been sent to prison on judicial remand in the present case.

The magistrate sent the suspects to prison on judicial remand, but allowed the application of IO for identification parade and fixed Dec 4 for the parade of suspects.

The court also allowed the IO to obtain the PIN code from the DSP in the detention facility.

The DSP and his two gunmen, Constable Khurram Ali and Constable Farhan Ali, and several other unidentified policemen and private persons had been booked for raiding the house of trader Shakir Khan in Orangi Town on the night between Nov 18 and 19 and looting over Rs20 million, jewellery and other valuables.
