Thousands of Palestinian workers in Israel will be sent back to Gaza, according to Israeli army radio, Al Jazeera reports.

“Over 10 buses passed this morning on their way to the Kerem Shalom crossing. 300 workers moved today and tomorrow about 1,000 more are expected to move,” it said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

GLZ Radio said these workers were earlier arrested and detained as they were residing in the country illegally.

Since October 7, Israel has repeatedly sent thousands of Palestinians back to the besieged enclave, pursuing a crackdown on workers and labourers from the territory who had previously been given permits to take jobs in Israel and the occupied West Bank.
