The reception handed out in Israel to Elon Musk, who expressed support for Israel’s offensive in the Gaza Strip, was a “cynical betrayal of Jews, dead and alive”, according to Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

The visit came amid a period of controversy for Musk, who recently sparked outrage by calling an anti-Semitic social media post — one promoting the conspiracy theory that white people in the West are being “replaced” through immigration from the Global South with the help of progressive Jews — “the actual truth”, Al Jazeera reports.

“Welcoming such a toxic mogul with open arms and taking him around sites of a massacre that has been belittled, demeaned and denied on his watch should be a stain on Netanyahu’s legacy,” added the Haaretz report.
