ISLAMABAD, Feb 18: The CBR has exempted 390 textile units from general sales tax (GST) on consumption of electricity for production of export goods.

The CBR has notified the decision by issuing eight different sales tax notifications here on Saturday by amending the previous ones.

According to the SRO131 of 2006, the CBR added 228 new manufacturing units for GST exemption to be supplied by the LESCO by amending the SRO928 of 2005.

The CBR through SRO132 of 2006 added 55 new units in the SRO929 of 2005 for GST exemption on electricity supplied by the FESCO.

Another 47 new textile manufacturing units were added in the notification SRO930 of 2005 through SRO133 of 2006 for the purpose of duty exemption on electrical energy supplied by the MEPCO.

Through SRO134 of 2006, the CBR exempted 27 new textile units by amending the SRO931 of 2005 from GST on electrical energy supplied by the GEPCO.

The CBR through SRO135 of 2006 added 10 new textile units for duty exemption from GST on electricity to be supplied by the HESCO by amending the SRO932 of 2005.

According to the SRO136 of 2006, the CBR amended the SRO933 of 2005 by exempting 6 new textile units from GST on electricity to be supplied by IESCO.

Through SRO137 of 2006, the GST was exempted on electricity to be supplied by PESCO to 15 new textile units by amending the SRO934 of 2005. And CBR through SRO138 of 2006 added two new textile units in the list notified under SRO935 of 2005 for GST exemption on electricity to be supplied by LIEDA.
