KARACHI, Feb 17: A complete strike was observed in Karachi on Friday to strike against the publication of blasphemous cartoons. All business and commercial concerns, shopping centres, offices and educational institutions remained closed. Public transport remained off the road. However, a negligible number of private vehicles plied in some areas.

Dozens of strikers and personnel of the law-enforcement agencies were injured in violence at the Sohrab Goth where demonstrators had tried to block traffic on the Super Highway. The strikers set fire to an ambulance and damaged three others at the Edhi Centre in the area.
