CRIMINAL SANCTUARY

CRIMINAL SANCTUARY: Bulri Shah Karim, a tehsil in Tando Mohammad Khan district, seems to have been losing its status as a calm and peaceful town, and turning into a sanctuary for criminal elements.

Drug peddlers roam the streets without any fear at all. This is, perhaps, because of the absence of the civil judge and magistrate who have not been visiting the tehsil for the last several months. Earlier, when they used to visit the place regularly, officers from other departments, such as the municipal corporation, also used to attend to their duties regularly. The authorities should look into the matter.

A BITTER SOCIETY: Ridiculing others for their mistakes is a common practice in society. People who have power or authority in any field usually abuse their dominant positions. Children, students and labourers suffer at the hands of their parents, teachers and bosses, respectively. One reason behind this behaviour is depression. People are facing economic issues, security issues, social disparity, human rights violations, and social disharmony. These problems end up killing their inner satisfaction and propel them into a deep, dark abyss that affects their mental, emotional and physical health. As a result, intole- rance, and bitterness prevail in society.

CLASSES IN MOSQUES: Almost all the leading universities across Pakistan have mosques at their premises. However, these mosques are used only for prayers. The universities can be encouraged to start Islamiat classes in these mosques instead of conducting such classes in the main buildings. Such classes should start early in the morning before the rest of the classes get going, and should have proper gender- based segregation. The authorities concerned should consider the initiative that will bring a change in society.
