DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Dera city police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested seven outlaws and recovered 1.3 kilogrammes of hashish, seven pistols with 46 cartridges.

A police spokesman said a team led by SHO Arslan Khan Gandapur conducted operations against the criminal elements. He said those arrested were identified as Mohammad Saleem, Mohammad Hasnain, Ijaz, a resident of Swat district, Jameel Ahmed of Charsadda, Rajab Ali, Allah Bakhsh and Shakeel.

The police registered separate cases against the criminals and started further investigations.

Meanwhile, the Gomal University police station arrested a drug dealer and recovered over one kilogramme of hashish from his possession.

The drug dealer was identified as Mohammad Abdullah of Darya Khan.

A case was registered against him.

Separately, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG), Welfare, Hamidullah Khan on Tuesday handed over a cheque to the family of a police martyr.

An official said AIG Hamidullah, during his visit to the district, met the family of the martyred cop at the DPO office.

Mr Hamidullah handed over the welfare cheque on behalf of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IGP Akhtar Hayat Khan to the legal heirs of constable Mubarak Shah, who was martyred by unknown militants at Maddi Gate in the limits of Kulachi police station on July 19, 2023.

He also presented a commendation letter and souvenir to the martyr’s children.
