PESHAWAR, Feb 16: The Afghanistan branch of Interpol has called upon Pakistan to hand over a man accused of being involved in the kidnap and murder of Taliban Commander Abdul Ahmed Bourbandi.

Sources said that Taliban Commander Abdul Ahmed Bourbandi, son of Abdul Rahim, was abducted from Kabul in November and the kidnapers demanded $50,000 as ransom from his family.

However, when the family members refused to pay the ransom, they killed Abdul Ahmed Bourbandi.

The FIA handed over the case to Special Investigation Group (SIG) in Pakistan.

After tracing cellphone numbers and widening the investigation net, accused Wali Mohammad was arrested in Peshawar.

The accused confessed to have committed the crime and disclosed the names of others involved in it.

Interpol has demanded that the Pakistan government hand over accused Wali Mohammad to it.

The accused will be handed over to Interpol Afghanistan from the Central Jail Peshawar within the next few days.— Online
