TOBA TEK SINGH: Authorities cracked down on wedding halls in Faisalabad, with assistant commissioners inspecting 323 venues.

Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Nayyar Sheikh said five caterers were arrested for violating regulations regarding one-dish meals and time limits.

Cases were registered against 12 others, and Rs2.5 million was collected in fines from 45 wedding hall owners for various charges.

SUICIDE: A teenage boy took his own life in Chakki Chowk on Kokianwala Road in Faisalabad on Monday.

Rescue 1122 said 16-year-old Hassan Ali hanged himself from a ceiling fan following a quarrel with his parents over money. Also, a man and his son were injured after their neighbours indiscriminately fired upon them during a dispute in Chak Jhumra’s Chak 189-RB.

Both Bashir Ahmad and his son Qaiser Ali were first admitted to the Chak Jhumra THQ Hospital to be referred to the Allied Hospital.

ELECTROCUTED: A young man, Rizwan Rafiq, was electrocuted in Chak 302 JB, Gojra.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, Rizwan was about to start an electric water pump motor when his hand accidentally touched a live wire. He died at the scene.

LAPTOP: Under the Prime Minister’s laptop scheme, the Higher Education Commission organised a laptop distribution ceremony at the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF).

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasir Amin said students should be guided to enhance their knowledge and research skills in today’s innovative era.

Laptops were distributed among students of PhD, MPhil, and bachelor programmes. Director Student Affairs Prof Dr Babak Mehmood said that the distribution would continue as planned, and students could seek assistance in case of any difficulties. A total of 2,651 male and female students at the GCUF will receive laptops in various phases.
