HYDERABAD, Feb 15: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said officials concerned have been directed to prepare feasibility reports of each development scheme with the capacity to cater to the needs of people up to 2025.

He was speaking at the launching ceremony of reconstruction of the Shaikh Ayaz Road in Qasimabad on Tuesday.

He said the district government was working on an integrated programme to ensure sustainable development and provide basic facilities to people without any discrimination.

The nazim said sewerage works had been completed on priority basis before construction of roads to avoid any further cutting on new roads.

He expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of infrastructure and lack of facilities in Qasimabad. However, he said, to develop the taluka, Rs50.7 million had been earmarked to repair roads of the taluka in the first phase. He said that a road from the old national highway to the Ali Palace was being improved at a cost of Rs16.6 million and a road from the Ali Palace to the city school road at a cost of Rs30.4 million.

Besides reconditioning of a road from the old national highway to Noor Masjid, technical college to new Wahdat Colony, Anwar Villas to Masroor Jatoi village, HDA office to Master Plan, Aqeel bright school to Aga Taj Mohammad IT college, city school to Kotri bridge, Wadhu Wah to Bhittai Nagar and Ali Mohammad Khaskheli to Khabar Khero, roads of union council-1 and Naseem Nagar-I were also included in the first phase.

Mr Jamil also announced financial assistance for streetlights on the Shaikh Ayaz Road.

He said the problem of supply of filtered drinking water to the people of Qasimabad was being solved by enhancing the capacity of the Jamshoro filter plant from 40MGD to 60MGD at a cost of Rs300 million.
