The Human Rights Watch is “gravely concerned about the well-being of thousands of civilians” as “Israeli ground forces are encircling and moving deeper into Gaza City, within two kilometres of Gaza’s largest medical facility, al-Shifa Hospital”.

In a post on X, it said that “videos from inside al-Shifa’s compound, verified by HRW, show hundreds of people in a courtyard next to the emergency room”.

Highlighting that “Al-Shifa [hospital] and the surrounding area continue to come under fire”, the HRW urged world leaders to “call on Israel to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure and to not carry out unlawful attacks”. World leaders should “urgently act to prevent further mass atrocities”, it added.
