KARACHI: Appeal allowed in drug case

KARACHI, Feb 14: An appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC), comprising Justice Muhammad Afzal Soomro and Justice Rahmat Hussain Jafferi, on Tuesday allowed an appeal filed by two accused convicted to serve life terms in a drug case.

Zahid Berni and Aftab Ahmed, sentenced by Special Court for Control of Narcotic Subsstances to serve life imprisonment assailed their conviction. They were arrested, tried and sentenced for being in possession of 4 kgs of charas and one kg opium.

The bench, after hearing the sides, allowed the appeal setting aside their conviction and sentence.—APP/PPI
