LAHORE, Feb 13: Rail traffic to and from Karachi could not return to normality even on Monday — three days after a collision between two goods trains in Thatta district. Sources at the PR control office said the Shalimar Express (27-up) reached Lahore at 12:30pm instead of its scheduled time of 12 midnight, Karakorum Express (41-up) at 3:30pm instead of 7:30am, Tezgam (7-up) at 3:15pm instead of 12:30pm, Karachi Express (15-up) at 2:30pm instead of 10:30am while the Khyber Mail (1-up) could not reach Lahore till the filing of this report at 10pm instead of its scheduled time of 9pm.
The Karakorum Express (42-down) left the Lahore railway station at 5:30pm instead of its scheduled departure time of 4pm and the Karachi Express (16-down) at 7:25pm instead of 6pm, they said.
Chief operating superintendent Asadullah said the traffic suspension for around 24 hours had disrupted the whole operation of the railways. The traffic to and from the Sindh capital is likely to return to normality within 48 hours.
