Complaint against army

KOHAT, Feb 13: The Shia community, in a formal complaint lodged with the high-military officials, has blamed the army for the deaths caused in violence after the Hangu blast.

An 11-member jirga of the community elders of Kohat, which called on Col Khalid and Maj Moin at the XIth Division Headquarters here on Monday, demanded an inquiry into the incident.

They told the officials’ that the army had played the role of silent spectator when Ibraheemzai village came under heavy rocket attacks from the Shahukhel area.

Later, speaking to Dawn, jirga members said they wanted to meet General Officer Commanding Maj-Gen Gul Mohammad, who led the operation in Hangu, to register their complaints against the army.

Qambar Ali was leading the jirga, comprising Gulabat Khan, Syed Hidayat Hussain, Syed Hamid Hussain, Syed Altaf Hussain, Syed Anwar Hussain, Syed Hussain, Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, Shah Ali, Syed Inayat Ali and Wali Khan.
