MIANWALI, Feb 12: District Naib Nazim Malik Tariq Masood Kund and his several supporters were booked for provoking people to attack the police station, blocking a road and misusing loudspeaker.

Reports said that four youngsters of Musakhel — Naseem, Asim, Imran Nazir and Ahsan Shakeel had gone to fill tanks of their motorcycles at the filling station of the district naib nazim at Ban Hafiz Gee on Mianwali-Talagang Road. To some unknown reasons, lumbardar Sher Muhammad, Mufti Amanullah and their companions overpowered the youngsters and locked them in a nearby hotel’s room.

However, Imran escaped and reported the matter to the police check post. Accompanied by head-constable Abdul Ghafoor, he came to the hotel, but the men deputed there refused to free the youngsters and instead gave the policeman severe thrashing.

In the meanwhile, law enforcers from Chakrala police station reached there to rescue their head-constable and recover the kidnapped youngsters. This incident irritated the naib nazim, who asked the area people on the loudspeaker to gather there and teach a lesson to the police. In his address, he also provoked the people to block Mianwali-Talagang Road and hurled threats on police.

Later, the district naib nazim led a big procession to Chakrala police station where the enraged mob pelted stones. They also shouted slogans against the police. Receiving information, a heavy police contingent reached there from Mianwali and dispersed the mob.

After an inquiry conducted by DSP Malik Muhammad Iqbal on the direction of the DPO, a case has been registered against district naib nazim and other people. Police registered another case against Sher Muhammad, Mufti Amanullah, Yousaf, Attaullah and four unknown persons for thrashing the head-constable. However, no arrest has so far been made.
