DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Agriculture Department has got five cases registered against the farmers for burning crop residue in the region.

These cases were registered in Mohammadpur police station, Hajipur police station, Dajal police station, and Chacha Border Military police station.

Under the Smog Control Act, these operations are being carried out on the directives of the Punjab government.

Burning crop residues now incurs a fine of Rs15,000 per acre, and FIRs are being registered against violators.

Farmers are advised against burning crop residue to avoid fines and potential arrests.

CRACKDOWN: Assistant Commissioner Usman Ghani and Deputy Director of Agriculture Ghulam Muhammad seized a stock of fertilisers at the main Chorhatta Chowk.

They imposed a fine of Rs50,000 on dealer Naveed Lashari.

The fertiliser was found hidden in a private warehouse and was being sold at inflated prices.

Mr Ghani said action would continue against those who exploit farmers by selling fertilisers at high prices.
