RAWALPINDI:As many as 45 patients tested positive for denguevirus and landed in government run hospitals from different parts of the district while one of them was in critical condition.

A total 1,829 people were affected by denguevirus in the current season while no death was reported so far whereas 1,743 people recovered.

At present 125 patients are under treatment in Rawalpindi hospitals and 92 of them were confirmeddenguepatients while thedengueserology report of 33 patients are still awaited.

As many as 57 patients are inHoly Family Hospital, 32 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 26 in District Headquarters Hospital, 10 patients are in tehsil headquarters hospitals of Taxila, Wah and Kallar Syedan.

Mostly patients arrived from Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase-2, Jan Colony, Bharia Town Phase-2, Shah Khalid Colony, 6thRoad, D-Block Satellite Town, Sadiqabad, 7thRoad, Kotha Kalan, Chaklala Scheme-III, Tench Bhatta, Murree Road, Peshawar Road and adjoining areas.

The officials said that the health department teams were continuing indoor and outdoor operations. On Saturday, more than 10,529 houses checked in Rawalpindi anddenguelarvae were found in 349 houses.

Similarly, more than 3,174 outdoor spots were checked in hotspots anddenguelarvae were found in 54 spots.

Meanwhile, a meeting held in deputy commissioner’s office decided to speed up anti-dengue drive in the garrison city.
