KARACHI, Feb 10: A middle-aged man was killed by unknown persons in Azizabad on Friday, police said. Mohammad Ayub, 38, was returning from the Yasinabad graveyard along with his son, Ali, 10, on his motorcycle when two persons, also riding a motorcycle, opened fire aiming at his head. The assailants, who were wearing helmets, fled from the scene.

The young boy escaped unhurt in the shooting and rushed home to inform the family members of the incident, police said, adding that the victim was rushed to the Ziauddin Hospital in a police mobile but he succumbed to his wounds on the way.

Hospital sources said the victim had suffered a single bullet wound in the head.

Police said the deceased owned a shop in the Gulf Shopping Centre, Clifton, and was also dealing in the real estate business. He was a resident of the PMG Plaza in Naseerabad, F.B Area.

Police said that the deceased used to visit the graveyard every Friday to offer fateha at his mother’s grave.

ROBBERY: House of a police inspector was burgled in the Civil Lines police quarters on Beaumont Road on Friday.

Inspector Abdul Waheed of the ACLC lodged a complaint at the Artillery Maidan police station, saying that four armed suspects barged into his house, beat him up and took away Rs27,000 cash and other valuables, including gold ornaments.
