ISLAMABAD: A woman was murdered and her daughter was injured over a marriage dispute, police said on Monday.

The police said a man armed with a pistol raided a house located in the area of Chatha Bakhtawar and started firing on the residents. As a result a woman, identified as Sawira Bibi and her daughter Muntaha Bibi sustained bullet injuries, they added.

Hearing gunshots, Sawira Bibi’s son Rafayullah Khan, who was outside the house, rushed towards the house and found the gunman in the house. When the gunman saw him he escaped from the house on a motorcycle.

Sawira Bibi sustained a bullet injury in her forehead and died on the spot, while Muntaha Bibi received injuries in her neck and jaw, the police said, adding that later the body and injured were shifted to hospital.

Medical assistance was given to Muntaha Bibi and he was kept in the hospital under the observation of doctors as her condition was serious, they added.

The Shahzad Town police have registered a case in response to a complaint lodged by Rafayullah Khan, a native of Sawat. The complainant told police that the killer had sent a marriage proposal for his sister, but the family did not accept it.
