KARACHI, Feb 8: The Naval shooting range, housed in PN Bahadur, will be equipped with a modern Electronic Target System (ETS). “Yes Navy has received response from an ISSF qualified Swiss firm after floating tender for installation of ETS at its shooting range,” a top official confirmed on Wednesday.

Cdr M. Asif, president of the shooting range, said import of ETS would cost over Rs. 20 million.

It is used in all the major competitions including the Olympics and world championships.

When commissioned, this would be the second ETS to be installed at the Naval shooting range and used in competitive shooting. The range of the existing ETS is 300 metres and it is used either in CISM or combat shooting.

The sport will get a further boost with the institution of the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) shooting championship prior to the Colombo SAF Games this year. The CNS has already given the nod at the closing ceremony of the national championship recently.

Meanwhile, NRAP, the games controlling body in the country, has chalked out elaborate plans to reactivate the sport across the country.

The Punjab chief minister has assured to provide a piece of land for the purpose at Lahore while the range in Balochistan will be upgraded, said NRAP secretary Khalid Javed.
