KARACHI: An antiterrorism court on Saturday granted bail to two interned leaders of the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in a case pertaining to May 9 riots.

The ATC judge allowed the bail applications of former MPA and provincial president of the PTI Haleem Adil Sheikh and ex-lawmaker Raja Azhar Khan against a surety bond of Rs100,000 each in a case registered at the Ferozabad police station.

However, both the leaders will remain behind bars as they are facing many other cases.

The court also confirmed the interim pre-arrest bail of another PTI leader, Khurram Sher Zaman, in the same case and adjourned the hearing till Oct 23.

The applicants, along with several other party leaders and workers, have been booked and arrested in cases registered at the Ferozabad, Tipu Sultan, and other police stations for allegedly staging violent protests on the main Sharea Faisal and other parts of the city, blocking the thoroughfare, resorting to rioting and causing damage to government and private property following the arrest of former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan on the premises of Islamabad High Court on May 9.
