KOHAT/HARIPUR: Four people of a family were killed while one was injured in a fatal head-on collision between a car and a coach near Kohat Tunnel National Highway Authority office here on Thursday.

One of the deceased was being taken from Bannu to Peshawar airport by his family members for a flight to Bahrain when the accident took place. The victims included Dilbaz Khan, Rakhsana Bibi, Tariq Khan and Farzana Bibi while Abdur Raziq was injured. The wounded person was referred to Peshawar in a precarious condition.

Meanwhile, two passengers were killed while 11 others including six women and two minors were injured when a passenger van plunged into a roadside gorge in Muslimabad area of Khanpur Tehsil, police said here on Thursday.

Khanpur police quoted witnesses as saying that a jeep carrying 13 passengers was on its way to Tarnawa from Muslimabad Bhiraray village.

When it was negotiating a blind turn on a slope near Jamnuonwala Mor, the driver lost control on the wheel and the jeep rolled down several feet into the gorge. As a result all the passengers were injured who were removed to Khanpur Tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Four critically injured passengers were referred to Trauma Centre Haripur where two of them succumbed to their injuries.
