COLOMBO, Feb 7: Hosts Sri Lanka on Tuesday thrashed Namibia by 137 runs in ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup match and their coach Sumithra Warnakulasuriya believes his side is ready to take on and beat tournament favourites India.

The hosts scored 263 for eight and then dismissed Associate side for 126 with Man-of-the-Match Sachithra Serasinghe following up his 41 runs with bat with off-spin that produced three for 22 while super sub Rajeewa Weerasinghe took four for 24.

“We are definitely prepared for India. And we are quite capable of beating them too,” the Lankan coach said.

Sri Lanka certainly look in good order for Friday’s match which, provided India beat Scotland on Wednesday, will decide who tops Group ‘C’ ahead of Super League quarterfinals.

Zimbabwe survived a big scare before defeating a plucky Nepal side by just two runs while New Zealand chalked up a comfortable beat Uganda by 122 runs.

In another match, South Africa kept alive their hopes of reaching Super League quarterfinals by hammering the USA by 162 runs. Proteas made 277 for eight and then bowled out tournament newcomers for 115 in only 29.1 overs.
