LARKANA, Feb 7: The Sindh government has approved an amount of Rs14.074 million for strengthening the banks of the Saifullah Magsi irrigation channel.
Sources in the district government told this correspondent here on Tuesday that under the scheme work on the RD-0-RD-145 section would start soon.
The object of sanctioning the amount was to improve the water flow so that it could easily be reached the tail-end.
The tillers of Shahdadkot and Qubo Saeed Khan talukas had been demanding revamping and de-silting of the irrigation channel for quite some time in order to bring in more area under cultivation, the sources said.
The scheme was approved under the annual development programme 2005-06 and with its completion the per acre yield could be increased that would benefit the growers and give flip to agriculture economy.
RESULT: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Larkana, on Tuesday announced the result of information technology subject, which was conducted along with higher secondary certificate examination 2005 as optional.
According to the statistical data of BISE Larkana, 648 candidates appeared in the examination and only 364 were declared pass.
Of 492 male candidates, only 246 could clear the examination while only 38 girl candidates, of 156 appeared in the examination, passed.
Ahsan Ali Shaikh of the Government Degree College Larkana stood first, Umair Bhutto of the Public School Larkana secured second position and Sana Langah of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Larkana, secured the third position.
PROTEST: A group of people in Qambar town held a demonstration against Wagan police on Tuesday for its failure to arrest a bus driver, who on Monday, had killed a landlord.
Mohammed Jaffar Chandio and Saifullah Chandio led the protestors. They alleged that Alam Nichrayani was crushed under the wheels of a bus.
They had registered an FIR but investigation wing of the police was reluctant to arrest the killer driver.
Later, they met Qambar-Shahdadkot District Nazim Nawab Shabir Ahmed Chandio and complained against indifferent attitude of investigation police.
The nazim assured them of his support to arrest of the driver.
LCCI: The Larkana Chamber of Commerce and Industry at a meeting criticized the investigation wing of the Qambar police for failing to recover a car and other items looted from two traders, Abdul Razzak Brohi and Deedar Hussain Abro.
LCCI president Mohammad Azam Shaikh presided over the meeting. He regretted that the robbers had been arrested but police were not recovering the items.
