RAWALPINDI: As many as 56 more people were found suffering form the mosquito-borne dengue disease on Monday, taking the tally to 1,004 in the ongoing season.

Officials said the new patients landed in three government hospitals during the last 24 hours. A total of 102 confirmed dengue patients are getting treatment in these hospitals and seven of them are in critical condition.

Moreover, dengue serology of 27 patients are being awaited. As many as 58 patients are in Holy Family Hospital (HFH), 34 in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 29 in District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, eight in tehsil headquarters hospitals Taxila, Wah and Kallar Syedan.

Most of the patients arrived from Muslim Town, Mumtaz Colony, Dhoke Chaudhrian, Car Chowk, Bostan Khan Road, New Gulzar-i-Quaid, Girja Road, Gulberg Town, Wazir Town, Ratta Amral, Dhoke Juma, Asghar Mall and adjoining areas.

The worst affected areas are Dhoke Munshee with 125 patients, Kotha Kallan with 85 patients, Tench Bhatta 39 patients, Chaklala 15 patients, Girja 15 and Rehmatabad with 15 patients.

The officials said health department teams were continuing indoor and outdoor operations. On Monday, more than 20,564 houses were checked and dengue larvae were found in of them. Similarly, more than 7,639 outdoor spots were checked and larvae were found in 160 spots.

They said the anti-dengue drive was being conducted by the District Health Authority and allied departments. Morning and evening fogging activities are also going on across the city.
