ISLAMABAD, Feb 6: Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said that parliament can re-elect President Pervez Musharraf for a second term in 2008.

Talking to media people in the Parliament House on Monday, he said that the PML would take a decision about its candidates for the Senate elections in a meeting of its parliamentary board to be held after Ashura.

“The issue has been settled in principle, but a final decision will be taken by the parliamentary board,” he added.

Referring to Senate candidates of the party’s Sindh chapter, he said that it would depend on a joint decision of the PML, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and other partners of the provincial coalition.

He said that no decision had been taken yet about the party’s candidate for the post of Senate chairman. The incumbent chairman, he added, had served well.—Online
