LAHORE: The academic and administrative advisory committee of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) has decided to advertise undergraduate admissions on Sept 24.

UHS Vice-Chancellor Prof Ahsan Waheed Rathore chaired the meeting where the members were briefed that the university will open admissions to three undergraduate programmes at its Jinnah Campus, Kala Shah Kaku.

These programmes include physical therapy, pharmacy, and medical laboratory technology.

Affiliated colleges will also admit students as per the UHS schedule. All colleges and institutes are obligated to complete admissions by Dec 31.

Classes for the undergraduate programs, including BSc Allied Health Sciences, will commence on Jan 1, 2024.

Admissions to MPhil and PhD programmes will also be advertised this month.

He directed Prof Nadia Nasim, pro-vice-chancellor, to finalise the department-wise allocation of seats for MPhil and PhD programmes. He suggested offering tests for the convenience of the public that are not readily available in the market or are prohibitively expensive.

He added that no test should be offered that is not approved or accredited by the relevant authority.

Prof Rathore made it clear that any lab unable to facilitate the public should be closed. He granted a period of six months to all teaching departments to prepare a feasibility report on starting specialized tests.

He also informed the members that funds have been approved for the payment of compensation to the relatives of nine employees who passed away during their service.
