MOHMAND: A jirga was formed under the auspices of the district administration to resolve the marble mine dispute between the Halimzai and Khewazai tribes.
Due to the conflict, there were several firing incidents between the parties. In order to avoid any unpleasant incident in the future, Deputy Commissioner Dr Mohammad Ehtishamul Haq urged the jirga members to resolve the dispute permanently. Both the tribes also gave the decision authority to the DC and tribal elders, according to the district administration.
The dispute between the two tribes of Mohmand district, Halimzai and Khewazai, over the marble mine has been continuing for the last five years in which there were several firing incidents reported.
There was an incident of firing between the parties the other day.
The deputy commissioner took immediate notice of the incident and after successful negotiations both the tribes agreed to take a decision through a jirga headed by the DC. The other members are Haji Subedar Safi, Malik Khan Mohammad and Malik Mohammad Saeed Khan.
