HYDERABAD, Feb 4: The Pakistan chapter of the Association of Peoples of Asia has called upon the Indian prime minister and high commissioner to start visa process at the Khokhrapar-Munabao exit route.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, the president of the Pakistan chapter, Ms Khursheed Shaikh, Ms Abida Hashmi and Abbas Ali Jafri said that decision to reopen the railway route on Feb 18 had already been taken and it was incumbent on the Indian High Commission to start issuing visas immediately.

They appealed to the Indian prime minister to expedite setting up of consulate in Karachi to facilitate the people of Sindh.

They said that 90 per cent of people desirous of visiting India to meet their relatives were settled in Sindh and they had to face a lot of inconvenience and incur unnecessary expenses to go to Islamabad for visa.

REVENUE: Senior member of the Sindh Board of Revenue, Syed Anwar Haider, has directed EDOs of revenue department to maintain record of rights properly.

He said if any forgery was found, it might be reported immediately so that action could be taken against people concerned.

He was talking to EDOs of Sindh at a meeting held here on Saturday.

He said it was primary duty of officials to ensure that record of rights was maintained according to law because.

He directed them to work hard and train their staff.

He said that iron grill, almirahs and fire extinguishers be installed in Mukhtiarkar offices to avoid theft and forgery of records.

He called upon officials to furnish government recovery position immediately, failing which strict action would be initiated against them.

He asked them to take interest in issuing of agriculture pass books to growers so that they could avail loan facility in time.

DOCTORS: A group of commission pass doctors staged a protest demonstration outside the Sindh Public Service Commission office and the press club here on Friday against cancellation of their results by the Sindh chief minister.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Jamshed Khanzada, Dr Sarwar Shaikh, Dr Shahid Shaikh and others said that the SPSC had announced their results purely on merit basis.
