SUKKUR: Several thousand people – members of various tribes and clans – attended the turban-earing ceremony held at the Sakhi Mahar Shah area of Jacobabad district on Sunday to install Mir Changez Khan Panhwar as the new chieftain of the Panhwar community.

Mir Changez is the elder son of Sardar Manzoor Ali Khan Panhwar, who died six weeks ago.

The turban-wearing ceremony was performed by chieftains of various tribes, clans and communities having their population in upper Sindh districts as well as bordering areas of Punjab and Balochistan. They included Sardarzada Mir Suleman Khan, Sardarzada Taimoor Khan and Sardarzada Mir Changez Khan Panhwar.

Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani, former Sindh chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar, Sardar Amir Bakhsh Bhutto, Sardar Jam Tamachi Khan Anwar, Mir Babul Khan Bhayo, Sardar Zulfikar Khan Sarki, Dr Sohrab Khan Sarki, Sardar Sakhi Abdul Razaque Khoso and many former ministers and lawmakers attended the ceremony.
