ISLAMABAD: The Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) of Islamabad on Thursday rejected the prosecution’s request to extend the physical remand of rights activist Imaan Mazari and former MNA Ali Wazir.

The police produced both of them before the ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain after their three-day physical remand.

The prosecutor Raja Naveed informed the judge that her photogrammetric and voice matching tests have been completed but sought her custody for further investigation.

He said that the police had recovered the transcript of her speech and it has to investigate the source of the information added in the speech. The judge rejected the request and sent her and Ali Wazir to Adiala jail on judicial remand.

Meanwhile, Imaan’s counsel Zainab Janjua filed a petition seeking her post-arrest bail.

The judge issued notice to the prosecution and adjourned hearing on her bail plea till Friday (today). The FIR alleged Imaan and Wazir of “interference in state affairs”.

It alleged that both of them along with the other participants of a rally equipped with batons clashed with the police when law enforcers attempted to stop the rally. The crowd blocked both lanes of GT Road after being stopped by the police, read the FIR.

When the leaders of the PTM and supporters were asked to open the road, they attacked the police and hurled threats of dire consequences and damaged vehicles and vandalized nearby shops, said the FIR.
