ISLAMABAD: All positions in the intermediate exams were clinched by girls in the annual results of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) part I and IIannounced by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Wednesday.

According to results, pass percentage of first year remained 61.82pc and that of second year remained 83.86pc. In the pre-medical group, Eishal Shahnoor of Punjab College Campus of Hill House Boarding School H-11 Islamabad bagged first position by getting 1,075 marks.

Second and third positions were clinched by Haniya Usman from Army Public School and College Humayun Road Rawalpindi and Rida Malik from Army Public School and College Girls Pasban Rawalpindi Cantonment by getting 1,072 and 1,066 marks, respectively.

In the pre-engineering group, Ushba Fatima from Army Public School Fort Road, Rawalpindi Cantt bagged the first position by obtaining 1,069 marks while Ayesha Zafar from Army Public School and College stood second with 1,059 marks. Zoya Ahmad from Army Public School and College Chaklala Garrison Rawalpindi got the third position after getting 1,054 marks.

In general science group, Hira Arif from KRL Model College for Girls, Kahuta, Rawalpindi got first position, scoring 1,045 marks while Mahnoor Tarar from Army Public School and College Askari XIV Defence Road Rawalpindi got second position with 1,044 marks. Ummara Amin from Islamabad Model College for Girls I-8/4 got third position by securing 1,038 marks.

Meanwhile in the commerce group, Hamda Ashfaq from Punjab College Attock, Refinery Road Rawalpindi stood first by securing 1,064 marks and Gulshan Fatima also from Punjab College, Attock Refinery Road, Rawalpindi got second position with 1,031 marks. The third position was clinched by Imaan Khan from Punjab College of Information Technology, G-6/1, Aabpara, Islamabad.

Similarly in the humanities group, Hafiza Tanzeela Sehar from Askaria College, Girls Wing, Rawalpindi, bagged the first position with 1,018 marks and Aafaf Tahir from Pakistan International School Saudi Arabia obtained second position by securing 1,003 marks. Saleeha Nawaz from Fauji Foundation College for Girls, Rawalpindi, got the third position by getting 1,000 marks.

Interim Education Minister Madad Ali Sindhi attended the ceremony as chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, he said education was the only way to combat the current challenges being confronted by the country. He congratulated the girl students for bagging all top positions in the five groups and advised the boys to work hard work to excel in their academic pursuits next year.

Earlier, FBISE Chairman Qaiser Alam highlighted the steps taken by the board to improve its working and appreciated the efforts of its staff for preparing results in a transparent manner. He also congratulated the position holders.
