LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) on Friday launched a drive against sales tax defaulters across the province.

The teams, constituted by PRA Commissioner Misbah Nawaz, raided various business premises, including two well-known beauty salons in the Gulberg area, and found them as not paying sales tax worth millions since long.

One of the teams confiscated the entire sales record of the salons and directed the owners to appear before the authority with immediate effect.

“After calculations and assessment, the salons’ owners and other business premises will be issued letters to deposit the sales tax,” said a spokesperson for the authority.

TREE PLANTING: A massive tree planting drive has started outside all temporary waste collection points of the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) and the adjoining areas. According to a spokesman, the saplings are being planted under environmental safety measures and they would control emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere.

“More than 1,000 fruit and flower plants were planted on Friday. Plantation at temporary collection points will also provide shade to the workers and passers-by,” said LWMC spokesman Umar Chaudhry. He said the temporary collection points at Saggian, Bhati and Shadman had been completely converted to green points.
